One of the absolute classics if Anglo-Saxon literature, Alice in Wonderland, is revisited by one of the greatest British photographers ever: Tim Walker. A bit of inspiration, a lot of talent and the right dose of passion and here is the Pirelli Calendar 2018. This is the 45th edition of the Calendar whose shots were made in London last May.
The imagination is known, allows us to explore unkown worlds allowing us to be part of it thanks to our imagination: to inspire Tim Walker was not only the story of Lewis Carroll, but also and especially the illustrations that the same Carroll had entrusted to John Tennel already on the occasion of the first edition of 1865 and that in the Calendario Pirelli they become twenty-eight shots.Eighteen characters among musicians, models, actors, political actovists have represented the black cast, as had already happened in the 1987 Calendar: the Sudanese-Australian model Adut Akech; the Ghanaian-British feminist model and activist Adwoa Aboah; the Senegalese-German model Alpha Dia; the actor and model Djimon Hounsou; model Duckie Thot; the women’s rights activist Jaha Dukureh; the British model King Owusu; the rapper Lil Yachty; the Mexican actress Lupita Nyong’o;
British supermodel and actress Naomi Campbell; the actor and TV personality RuPaul; the American actress Sasha Lane; the rapper, singer, composer, actor, entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs; the model Slick Woods; the South African model Thando Hopa; the actress, comedian, conductor Whoopi Goldberg; the British model Wilson Oryema and the British designer and singer Zoe Bedeaux.For the realization of the Calendar Walker has collaborated with great artists such as: Shona Heath, famous creative director and set designer in Great Britain, to whom we owe the extraordinary staging and installations that allowed the creative narration of this edition of Alice in Wonderland, and the icon of fashion Edward Enniful, designer who created the elaborate costumes of this edition in an exemplary manner. Just have a pinch of imagination and the desire to daydream can become reality: Tim Walker, in an absolutely original way, gives life to a calendar that comes to life from the imagination to give everyone the opportunity to escape from reality, even if nearly.
