The avant-garde line by Andreas Kronthael for Vivienne Westwood

by Giorgia Crescia
Andreas Kronthael for Vivienne Westwood unveils the new special collection of underwear, made with Yasmine Eslami.

An innovative stylist with an eccentric and rock taste, perfectly in line with the brand for which he created the line. For Kronthael, the outfit is very important; he has revealed to prepare his matchings first, because he does not like being in a hurry, he always prepares two pairs of shoes in case he can change his mind.Hot bath, scrub and face mask are his daily ritual together with a cup of tea or a drop of liquor, to start the day to the fullest. Very important for the designer is also the underwear, strictly of quality, with which he plays by combining it with his outfit.

The 2019 spring-summer collection has several sources of inspiration. The photos of Kabul’s girls in skate by Jessica Fulford-Dobson and the images on the Ritz’s restructuring catalog serve as a basic idea for the line he designed.

Inside the collection there is a review of two artists who strongly influenced him during his adolescence, the Austrian Walter Pichler and the American Paul Trek, the two show off a sacred and humorous vision of life.

Andreas Kronthael uses a very wide color palette that expands from white and from various shades of pink to black, through bright colors.

Stripes, floral motifs with almost faded colors that remind a little of the old wallpapers, but also small colorful flowers, or prints of small pink horses accompany asymmetric cuts, fabrics that allow glimpses of the skin, curls and rigid fabrics.

A very wide and particular collection that follows perfectly the style of Vivienne Westwood, famous for its avant-garde collections.
