Met Gala 2019: the stars’ outfits

On the evening of Monday 6 May, one of the most important glamorous events of the year took place: the Met Gala 2019. The annual party that, every first Monday in May, is organized to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York.



This year, the theme of the gala was Camp: Notes on Fashion.

According to the New York Times, the theme is inspired by an essay by Susan Sotang, which recounted how the unbridled use of kitsch, with playful intentions and in different fields, had an impact on popular culture and contributed to sexual liberalization and homosexual.

So, the theme is about how the unbridled use of kitsch represents the essence of extravagance, theatricality and love for excess.

For this reason, the Hollywood celebrities have shown off their best looks at the 2019 Met Gala.
The catwalk saw around 700 present, dressed according to the theme of the year

The first: Kristen Stewart, Chanel ambassador, wore a black sequin top and white sequin pants, look 60, from the Fall-Winter 2019/20 Ready-to-Wear collection. Chanel belt, necklaces, shoes and bag.

Chanel Fine Jewelry “Coco Crush” bracelets and rings in 18K yellow gold with diamonds, “Lion Pépite” earrings in 18K yellow gold, and “L’Esprit du Lion Intuitive” ring in 18K yellow gold with diamonds.

Tessa Thompson will be wearing a pale pink pleated taffeta dress with a collar and cuffs in black duchess satin. look 67, from the Fall-Winter 2016/17 Haute Couture collection.

Kristine Froseth, Chanel US ambassador, will be wearing a silk embellished ivory dress with a black feather trim, look 47, from the  Fall-Winter 2016/17 Haute Couture collection.

Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, Sarah Paulson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Bella Hadid, Maluma, Stella Maxwell, Violet Chachki, Kacey Musgraves, Mindy Kaling, and Lilly Singh wear Moschino to the 2019 Met Gala.

Katy changes into her second look for the 2019 MET Gala wearing a satin 3D “Hamburger” jack with crystalline sesame seeds worn over a green satin “Lettuce” dress from the Maison.

Jeremy Scott wears a black tuxedo with tails and bejeweled harness and Gwen Stefani wears a bejeweled tulle and satin bustier, with a white marabou and Swarovski pieced coat with personalized “Gwen” train from Moschino.

And also: Sarah Paulson wears a black duchesse satin “Bow Tie” strapless gown; Tracee Ellis Ross wears a black silk charmeuse draped bustier gown with gold filigree embroidered frame; Bella Hadid attends the 2019 MET Gala wearing a black silk-chiffon draped bustier gown with jeweled cutout and strap; Stella Maxwell wears a black tulle scoop neck gown with sequin star applique; Kacey Musgraves wears a pink leather moto dress with techno fur shawl; Mindy Kaling wears a gold sequin taffeta one-shoulder bustier dress; Lilly Singh wears a fuchsia dégradé organza flower gown with multi-petal skirt, petal bustier, and cinched waist, and Violet Chachki attends the 2019 MET Gala wearing a black silk satin bustier sheath with jumbo hand train. Also Burberry hosted its first table at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit in New York since the appointment of Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci.

Michael B.
