Philipp Plein, the fashion rule breaker, brought on the night as his eponymous label officially launched its first flagship in Southeast Asia at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands with a convergence of the trendsetters and who’s who from Asia’s luxury fashion scene.
In true Philipp Plein style, the party rolled out an unconventional black carpet to welcome a line-up of guests that includes international celebrity DJ Hyo, Crazy Rich Asian’s Fiona Xie, television personality Amanda Chaang, and of course, the designer himself – Philipp Plein.
Bridging the unbridled fashion style and traditional Asian customs, Mr Plein bore witness to an auspicious lion dance performance as he officiated the opening of his flagship in the region.To end off the momentous night, the entourage brought the party over to CÉ LA VI, where DJ Hyo took over the reins of the DJ turntable as the highlight act.
Philipp Plein, the brand founded by the namesake designer and globally known for its rock and bold style, opens its first flagship in Singapore.
This latest flagship is part of a strategy of retail expansion within the Asian market, which counts today 34 boutiques among China, Hong Kong, Korea and Thailand, out of the 96 stores Worldwide.
The 4,000 square feet two-storey flagship is located in the heart of the city, at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, part of the internationally-known Marina Bay Sands integrated resort designed by Moshe Safdie. The resort is known for its iconic three towers building which features a peculiar huge terrace as a unique rooftop connecting the different towers.
Marina Bay Sands belongs to Las Vegas Sands Corporation and it was nominated in 2010 as the most expensive standalone casino property in the world.
The region’s first Philipp Plein store is the answer to the increasing demand for the self-made designer’s extravagant-meets-edgy style across the globe. will allow local and regional couture connoisseurs access to the celebrated fashion label which has been donned by big names such as Naomi Campbell, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Marcus Schenkenberg and Kim Kardashian.
Philipp Plein’s first Singapore monobrand is a majestic boutique developed on two levels: Man’s Area at the first floor on and the Woman’s on the second, with a total shopping area of 236sqm. Each floor comprehends its own entrance, allowing clients to visit only one or both levels. At the Men’s level, a great, signature Crystal Skull inside a cubic glass case welcomes the visitor.
Right behind it, a “Honeycomb” Sunglasses Display will immediately catch the attention, as well as the opulent Murano chandeliers. Clothing area stands at right side, where garments are showcased in luxurious hanging boxes, furniture features a hexagonal folding table, an elegant black leather daybed and a greater hexagonal table.
Accessories can be found on the left: Bag and leather goods are displayed in the black marble walls and in the black folding fable, while sneakers and belts have their own standalone displays. Walking up to the second level, another massive Murano glass chandelier enriches the atmosphere of the black marble staircase that leads to the Women’s area.
Here marble’s quality changes into the more feminine white arabesque. Clothing and accessory are merged in a single open space, where a wide range of dresses is indeed displayed in hanging boxes, while accessories are framed to the walls or in stand-alone displays all over the room.
On top, two Murano glass chandeliers stand at the sides, enriching the perception of the whole room. The Women’s level also features a big crystal skull, nestled inside a glass cube at the entrance, just between the two Women’s windows.
