County of Milan DNA: Marcelo Burlon Fall Winter 2020/21 men’s collection

Marcelo Burlon presents the new men’s Fall Winter 2020/21 collection.

The clash of contrasting elements is integral to the County of Milan DNA. While shapes are practical, inventively utilitarian and meant to perform in the hyper-accelerated urban environment, surfaces are visually engaging: printed, treated, embroidered, patched.

Distortion is the byword for Marcelo Burlon Fall Winter 2020/21 collection. Warped flowers – created by Mirko Borsche – folk motifs, liquefied allover pied-de-poule patterns make for psychedelic effects on aviator jackets, jacquard jumpers, shirts, puffed anoraks, fatigues and shorts.

The way pockets and details are applied onto pieces is glitched, too, while contrasting stitches make for another level of distortion. Reflective down jackets and Swarovski-covered single breasted blazers and bomber jackets are meant to flash and bedazzle. The color palette is a muted amalgamation of brown, stone, winter moss, sesame, black lit up by dazzling blue and colorful prints.

Accessories play with scales, function and perceptions: outsized leather envelopes, Airpod holders as necklaces, insulated bottles as bracelets, floral earbuds, utility belts, utility sneakers in collaboration with Caterpillar. Other collaborations include: Retro Super Future for eyewear, Chrishabana for jewelry.

An idea of warped folk comes to the fore.
