The Japanese designer presented 4 models inspired by the 70s Pirelli jackets at Paris Fashion Week.
Milan, January 28, 2020 – The new COMME des GARÇONS JUNYA WATANABE MAN showcase took place on Friday 17 January in the official calendar of the Paris Fashion Week. For Autumn Winter 2020, the Japanese designer collaborates for the first time with Pirelli and presents a special capsule collection inspired by the Pirelli jacket with the iconic yellow and red logo worn by technicians during Motorsport races in the 70s.
This limited edition signed by the Japanese designer reflects the mission of Pirelli Design, namely to create collaborations that know how to enhance both the brand and the technical know-how of Pirelli, applying them in different sectors, from fashion to motorboats and high-quality watches.Junya Watanabe reinvents the uniforms and classic retro work clothes, takes inspiration from some garments developed by iconic Italian brands in the sports world to create jackets and coats in perfect Junya Watanabe Man style.
The Junya Watanabe Man x Pirelli capsule collection consists of 4 models – 2 coats, 1 jacket and 1 tshirt – that take up and update the silhouette of vintage garments with the inclusion of new materials, one of the elements that carry out Watanabe’s work, always interested in synthetic and technologically advanced fabrics.
Thus the double-breasted jacket, the classic coat and the raincoat are renewed in style but retain the colors and details that still make the P P brand recognizable today as a protagonist in the world of sport at the highest levels.
