Memories, the new collection designed by Burberry for the Autumn Winter 2020/21 in the name of nostalgia

A triumph of elegance in Burberry’s Autumn Winter 2020/21 collection, which takes its cue from London, where Riccardo Tisci studied as a young designer and where he returned to live after his appointment as creative director of the brand.

The fact that I recently returned to London – a city I discovered for the first time as a young student – gave me a real sense of nostalgia. It was the place where I learned to be myself and a city where I gained the confidence to be the man I am today.

I have this strong feeling of pride when I think about the beginning of my career, when I was an emerging designer and I was still learning my job and taking inspiration wherever I could find it.Burberry Autumn Winter 2020 CollectionThe memory of this special and formative period of my life is what influenced this collection – from the places I visited and the people around me to the music that inspired me. It is this side of my personal journey that I wanted to merge with the codes and language that I started defining here at Burberry.

Thus a nostalgic but at the same time joyful journey is prefigured, recalling the moments lived in this city, which represented his training, his professional and even human journey. A special hymn and dedication for London that allowed him to have self-confidence, that allowed him to be the man and the artist he is today and that influenced his choices that proved successful.

Thus Memories was born, a magical show in which Tisci decides to surround himself with his closest friends and favorite models of all time: starting with Irina Shayk, passing through Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Joan Smalls, up to Naomi Campell, to the Italian singer-songwriter Mahmood, Lourdes Leon, Madonna’s young daughter, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi and the singer FKA Twigs.Burberry Autumn Winter 2020 CollectionIn this way, on a platform of mirrors of the Kensington Olympia Exhibition Center, the parade is staged through a tribute to the classic and iconic garments reinterpreted and revisited. The trench coat, the brand’s famous and iconic outerwear, is declined in new and different colors and materials; the check in mix & match print from head to toe appears on evening dresses and bags; college style “preppy” uniforms are completely renewed; the color palette moves between beige, gray, black and white, with red nuances for her and for him. Finally, among the must-haves of the collection certainly the new Olympia bag.
