Did you say Haute Couture? We are ready to tell you everything about the collections that make you dream, those that put no limits on creativity and magic. Chanel is among those fashion houses that presented the Haute Couture Spring Summer 2021 collections in a pandemic world where the locations are empty and silence hides the enthusiasm of a distant audience.
We still have to get used to filtering everything from a screen but we can still appreciate the inputs of endurance and courage that fashion launches every day, we can still believe that beauty is not unnecessary. Rather. Unlike yesterday, today beautiful is hope, it is resilience.Chanel brought her Spring Summer 2021 Haute Couture collection on a bed of petals in a room with half-empty chairs, except for a few ambassadors, but still romantic. The flowers, the green of the leaves and the twinkle of the lights have warmed a silent environment shaken only by the background music, but still romantic. I keep saying it, romantic. Romanticism, a feeling that does not rhyme with pandemic but rather contrasts it in a continuous struggle between desires and reality. For Chanel, spring means blooming, or blooming again at this point, as the collection is also linked to the reopening of the Haute Couture Salons at 31 Rue Cambon. The Haute Couture Spring Summer 2021 collection makes its entrance bringing with it petals at every step, some long skirts also drag our dreams behind them. As a stylist that I am, I cannot wait to abandon this poetic vein to bring you to reality, to the product to let you discover the looks presented on the catwalk.
Chanel’s Spring Summer 2021 Haute Couture collection is light, soft and relaxed. The outfit that best expresses its character is certainly the one consisting of the black tulle skirt and the white silk shirt put together without too much effort. It designs a new elegance made of randomness and spontaneous gestures of which we have rediscovered the charm. The shirt is no longer impeccably hidden by the skirt but decides to fall on the tulle as if to demonstrate that being built is no longer in fashion. Even if it’s just an illusion … in short, let’s talk about Haute Couture!
A totally opposite version of this outfit is the one with a short-sleeved shirt finished with a bow-tie style bow combined with a long flounced skirt that is, I would dare say, Spanish-inspired and winks at the trend of rouches and volumes. In this case, the shirt represents almost the masculine side of the woman but unexpectedly merges with her most eccentric and feminine expression, the one of movement of the body at every step. Each element is elegant in her own way.Flower crowns play down pastel-colored tweed suits, everything is soft from trousers to vests. The flounces are also repeated on the dresses, creating very successful combinations between bon ton and tango. Flowers are the protagonists not only on hair styling but also on dresses, creating volume and movement.
The wedding dress comes to close the Chanel Haute Couture Spring Summer 2021 show arriving on a white horse. Unlike other items presented, the line is straighter and more rigid and tends to a very elegant androgyny. The skirt, however, widens remaining faithful to the rest of the collection. The design is a mix of oriental inspirations and modern sobriety.
The models take turns leaving the catwalk to fill those empty and distant chairs and bring color and beauty where there was emptiness before.
