Burberry today unveiled its Fall Winter 2022/23 collection at an event that marked the first live show in two years. Celebrating British culture, the show explores the multiple perspectives and dualities that make up its identity.
In contrast between city and country, glitz and punk, he explores the concept of Britishness not just as an idea, but as an attitude: forward-looking, adventurous, embracing potential. Inspired by London, the brand’s creative and spiritual home for over 130 years, the show captures a British essence that Burberry continues to embody. A family to which the brand belongs.
Building on the rich history and codes of the brand, the women’s and men’s collections offer a playful twist to tradition, a reconstruction of heritage. Contrasting elements of royalty with subcultural influences, classic British conventions and signature codes of the brand are explored in new iterations, fabrications and silhouettes.
Filled with autumn hues littered with sparkling crystals inspired by evenings in the British countryside, the collections highlight revised icons from the Burberry archive, including Equestrian Knight Design and the Oak Leaf Crest, plus a groundbreaking take on the classic trench.
Presented in the heart of the city at Central Hall Westminster, the collection was unveiled in a vast theater, featuring a historic domed ceiling and a large organ as a backdrop. Clad in Burberry’s signature brown hue, the Great Hall floor has been transformed into a resplendent private dining room. Begun in the dark, the show opened with models descending the stairs and meandering through the audience and onto the lighted tables.
Accompanied by a live performance by the London Contemporary Orchestra of Max Richter and Michael Nyman, the hearts of the audience were reflected in the voices of a hundred-person choir.
Curated for an intimate audience, guests who attended the show included Adam Driver, Adekunle Gold, Anne Imhof, Blondey McCoy, Carla Bruni, Davido, Dixie D’Amelio, Eiza Gonzalez, Eliza Douglas, Headie One, Honey Dijon, Jacob Elordi , Jaime Xie, Jodie Harsh, Kate Moss, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Marina Ruy Barbosa, Meridian Dan, Naomi Campbell, Rebecca Hall, Role Model, Slim Soledad and Simone Ashley.
Both new faces and established Burberry models attended the show, with special appearances including Italian singer-songwriter Mahmood, British professional boxer Richard Riakporhe, director Jared Buckheister and musician Andrew Vvarholla.
Models from the Burberry family included Khalil, Matteo, Miles, Nozomu, Reece and Sacha. The models included Anita, Anok, Bella, Felice, Fran, Gigi, Irina, Kayako, Lea, Ladyfag, Loli, Mayowa, Mariacarla, Mona, Saskia, Stella, Sora and Xue.
Burberry’s Fall Winter 2022/23 show will be carbon neutral certified – the brand has taken steps to reduce the environmental impact and thereby offset the carbon emissions associated with the show.
Bags
The Catherine bag is presented, a new style characterized by soft but structured proportions and a front pocket punctuated by our logo. Available as a shoulder bag, shoulder bag with top handles and detachable shoulder strap and fanny pack. The creations include Horseferry embossed smooth calfskin, quilted leather, striped inlay leather, waxed cotton, green check and dark birch brown check.
A clutch bag with trompe l’oeil print inspired by the iconic British packaging, made of soft regenerated leather and embellished with blue, green and metallic crystals. Duffle bag in embossed leather and striped inlaid leather.
Shoes
The defined silhouette of the new platform heel boot features material contrasts of leather, suede and velvet, as well as dark birch brown designs and intricate inlays, detailed with fringes and crystal embellishments.
Accessories
A new cat-eye frame – inspired by 80s sunglasses – in injected nylon with oversized temples and flip-up colored lenses. Crystals set in pavé adorn chunky chain necklaces with oversized pendants. Bow-shaped earrings with teardrop pendants and headbands in leather, velvet and embellished with crystals.
Baseball caps with dark birch brown cotton, leather and check headbands, embroidered with the Thomas Burberry monogram. The belts feature chains with logo lettering and buckles decorated with the archive oak leaf crest.
Key prints
New interpretations of the equestrian knight design and oak leaf crest. A range of colors including dark viridian green, ink green, deep ginger and distinctive dark birch brown check in exploded scales. Heritage Stripes in the new seasonal colors. A new vivid polka dot print in contrasting black and yellow or vibrant yellow and orange.
Key colors
Classic shades of soft fawn and dark birch brown, along with an autumn palette of deep pine green, dark Viridian green and dark sand. Black, melange gray and red mixed with dandelion yellow, candy pink and pale blue accents.
