Chanel‘s Fall Winter 2022/23 collection was presented in a tweed-clad space in the Grand Palais Éphémère. The location suggests a comfortable collection, with soft lines and knitwear as the protagonist.
The ribbed tights, cardigans and soft outerwear confirm expectations by introducing in a decisive way what will be the 70 models presented for Chanel’s Fall Winter 2022/23 collection.
The bon ton style of accessories and hairstyles creates a pleasant contrast with the relaxed and casual style of the daywear outfits accompanied by rain boots and bombers or trench coats.
The protagonists are the cardigans that together with stockings and tights represent the most contemporary and stylistically interesting garments.
Coats play a fundamental role in defining the combinations of patterns and colors. We see them ton sur ton on some looks or in contrast on others, both in shades and patterns.
“Devoting the entire collection to tweed is a tribute,” says Virginie Viard. “We followed the footsteps of Gabrielle Chanel along the River Tweed, to imagine tweeds in the colours of this landscape.
Like that of a long pink coat mottled with blue and purple, or a burgundy suit with a delicate gold shimmer.
This is what Gabrielle Chanel would do on her walks through the Scottish countryside: she would gather ferns and bouquets of flowers to inspire the local artisans for the tones she wanted.”
An aura of romance pervades Chanel’s Fall Winter 2022/23 collection and is certainly inspired by one of Coco’s love stories with the Duke of Westminster “There is nothing sexier than wearing the clothes of the person you love”, continues Virginie Viard. “Of course, I am fascinated by this always contemporary gesture. And it is Chanel that makes tweed feminine ”.
