Luisa Beccaria “Making Waves Capri & Beyond” Spring Summer 2023 new collection

The wave that enters the soul, shakes emotions, breaks and refracts light.

A gentle and impetuous movement like that which for Luisa Beccaria takes shape in the Spring Summer 2023 woman; a dynamic woman who – of life – faces the vast ocean like the smallest lake.

Fabrics and textures paint an aquatic landscape, where the froth of the wave is a ripple of petals and the glitter of the sun on the sea are dancing crystals and sequins. Fresh, light materials such as georgette, organza and satin are embellished with embroidery and fil coupé work, interspersed with floral prints of water lilies, shaded flowers and cotton that is carved into sangallo leaves, with almost marine-like graphic motifs.

Tulle is embroidered with flowers reminiscent of the supple sea anemone. The shapes are sinuous, they follow the figure and create well-defined silhouettes inspired by the movement of the wave in small flounces, pleats, criss-crosses, three-dimensional games. For daytime, the impalpable chemisier is almost a cover-up, the printed midi dress ties at the shoulders and long monochrome dresses play with flowery details, cinching at the waist with thin printed belts; the jaunty mini dress in fil coupé becomes provocative with a deep V-neckline.

Crystalline transparencies and flashes of mother-of-pearl, on the other hand, give light to the evening, with looks shimmering with a thousand reflections on long dreamy dresses and jumpsuits for a sensual contemporary mermaid.

The Capri inspiration, a little bit Dolce Vita a little bit Seventies, is also an opportunity to discover beachwear for the urban nymph, with flip-flops, swimming costumes and hats with a wide, soft brim. On the catwalk – a path between shaded screens outlining the waves of a rippling sea – also numerous accessories: large tote bags and small saddlebags in crocheted raffia or fabric, open toe Mary Jane’s with the motifs of the collection and laminated thong sandals.

The shells stand out against hair styled in waves dotted with hairpins, become neck pendants or Mediterranean nymph single earrings. The colours are those of the refractions of water – indigo, blue, aquamarine, turquoise, green, jade – sometimes accentuated by the more acidic hues of seaweed, with touches of platinum, iridescence and pinkish reflections of the sun on the sea at sunset.
