The new Spring Summer 2022 collection by Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood is rich in content, you can see the multiple inspirations which are more obvious in some garments and in others less.
The Spring Summer 2022 collection appears as a set of different influences, a mosaic made up of many colors and shapes; the basic idea of the artist was to start from comfort and give life to a line that is mainly unisex.
As always, we find the love for oversize, for asymmetrical cuts, extravagant and unusual accessories and the fight against gender stereotyping, men in skirts and heels. Also this time Andreas Kronthaler and the brand show the continuous struggle for freedom, for equality and obviously the fight against climate change.
Andreas Kronthaler uses shorts as a tailored suit, therefore combined with sexy jackets both in coordinated and not, wanting a reassessment of the possibilities of this garment; sweetheart necklines that refer to figures like Marilyn Monroe, straight skirts and dresses that recall the elegance and sensuality of 1940s-1950s actresses; the line is full of prints, rubber and georgette scraps.
Sheer organza dresses worn with cotton polo shirts, hoods to the bust, capes worn as coats and dresses, seventeenth-century collared gowns in silk satin are accompanied by oversized boots that hold up around the neck, giant bells and headdresses, among which men’s burqa with zip.
In the Spring Summer 2022 collection, sexy dresses, exaggerated structures, unisex garments, asymmetries and transparencies are paraded.
However, Andreas Kronthaler does not lose sight of the importance of sustainability, a central focus for the brand, the collection is therefore made with sustainable materials and scraps.
A definitely eclectic line, a brand that amazes more and more, able to lead the viewer to observe the garments from another point of view, contemporary art.
