The Vivienne Westwood Bridal 2023 collections– Made To Order and Couture-take inspiration from the night sky: the shapes, colors, and explosions of the cosmos.
Stunning necklines and unmistakable draping define the gowns, amid ethereal train, capes and long boleros that orbit the silhouette. Touches of sequins, satin and metallics give the collection an astral luminosity.
Made To Order‘s color palette includes silvery white, iridescent powder pink and nebula gold, contrasted by deep red, aquamarine and sapphire blue, which give the collection an enigmatic character.
The dresses, twelve in total, embody an innovative approach. The strapless, corseted Galaxy Cape features a removable Watteau train in georgette fabric. The Comet mini-dress is paired with an asymmetrical cascading tail, which can be worn tied at the waist or over the shoulders.
The Luna model, with a voluminous shape and asymmetrical neckline, is made with a cutting technique that minimizes fabric waste and comes with a removable skirt that, via a button system, allows the length of the dress to be altered. The fabrics available-all low-impact-ranging from tulle, sequins, lace, recycled taffeta, FSC-certified viscose satin crepe or acetate, to georgette and stretch satin.
The collection was designed and entirely handmade in England. A selection of the gowns from the 2023 season are available in multiple colors, offering brides the opportunity to choose a timeless gown for all occasions, putting longevity and wearability for future generations at the forefront.
Vivienne Westwood Couture
The Vivienne Westwood Couture collection features nine dresses, each with a specific celestial reference. The Luminara, in lurex crepe fabric, with a contemporary draped cut, features a waspie (“wasp waist”) corset overlay, embellished with crystals and silver threads, with sangallo lace-effect embroidery.
The Interstellar gown, with an inner corset, asymmetrical sweetheart neckline and matching glove-sleeve, features striking metallic silver lace that orbits the entire silhouette and ends in a dramatic 4-meter Watteau train.
The Angelica Mini, in delicate guipure lace, and the Angelica Cloud, in multi-layered tulle, are the bridal developments in the AW23/24 Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood collection.
Ultra-feminine, corseted looks accentuate women’s shapes and feature iconic spiral sleeves. Couture dresses are made to measure at the Vivienne Westwood atelier in London.
