IED “Istituto Europeo di Design“ launches Render Farm, virtual laboratories, financial concessions

IED for his students – Render Farm and virtual laboratories: the Istituto Europeo di Design  accelerates student support services in view of the end of the academic year. Also a series of financial concessions for families among the choices made.

The Istituto Europeo di Design presents a plan for its students to ensure that, in view of the end of the academic year, the level of quality of the study courses carried out in the second semester remains high, even if remotely. The initiatives adopted by IED complement what has been activated for the Smart School, acting on two fronts: on the one hand, ensuring that all students complete their respective study courses without delay and deficiencies, also integrating those activities – typical of a school in the do – requiring access to workshops and the use of software and equipment specific to the course; on the other hand, to provide families affected by the crisis with an economic aid plan, aimed at supporting their children’s education, considering all the difficult situations that have arisen due to the current context.IED "Istituto Europeo di Design" Milano moda lab“The main commitment of IED, especially at this particular moment, is to continue to ensure that all students have the same opportunities and rules at a time that has contributed to building gaps, respecting the differences between courses – declares Riccardo Balbo, Academic Director IED. All our students will be put in a position to graduate on time and with the defined training requirements. The job placement and career service services will not only be guaranteed as every year, but will be alongside our recent graduates to tell their future interlocutors how these young people, with maturity and a sense of responsibility, have been able to adapt to a situation unexpected and difficult ”.

IED has developed an integrated system of services to allow graduates and masters to finalize their thesis projects first. The system provides a Render Farm service that provides students with the possibility of outsourcing the final rendering part, which would require a computing power not available from a standard device in use at home. The service of Render Farm is added to that of virtual laboratories, which allows you to connect from any personal device to one of the machines present in the IED laboratories or in the cloud, thus exploiting its power and all the software system available, without having to install anything on your device.IED "Istituto Europeo di Design" Milano moda labTo these two services is added the possibility of being able to borrow specific course materials and equipment from the offices, being able to access external processing services, such as for the jewelery design course, and having the possibility of access – in a contingent manner according to pre-established times and shifts – to some laboratories of the offices, such as the recording room for sound design courses. To follow the government’s provisions on health security, the theses will be discussed remotely. In addition, to ensure that all students can graduate on time, the ordinary summer session will open on July 13, extending, with a break in August, until September 30.

“Today we feel the need not only to ensure the completion of the academic year remotely of our graduates – declares Emanuele Soldini, IED Italy Director – but also to guarantee the first and second year students the continuation of their paths, so that no one should find yourself in the situation of having to abound your studies. We are aware of the difficulties that families may face in this delicate moment, for these reasons we have set up a financial aid program to support them “.IED "Istituto Europeo di Design" Milano moda labThanks to the collaboration of the Pro-family Institute of the BPM banking group, it will be possible to access a zero-rate loan extended from six to ten months, the financial burden of which interest will be entirely borne by IED. Reductions on attendance fees are provided for students in case of certifiable family economic difficulties, due to the emergency COVID-19.

In addition, all students are provided with an economic benefit in the event of re-enrollment by 30 June, also valid in the case of signing the loan at zero rate. For students who enroll in the first year, there are facilities for early enrollments, such as the Early Bird discount, zero-rate financing and a scholarship notice dedicated to deserving students, always to support families in difficulty.

Today the gaze of the Istituto Europeo di Design is already long on the month of September, with the aim of being able to resume the academic year 2020/21 with teaching in FAD mode integrated with activities in presence where possible and in full compliance with the rules and personal safety, with the extension of the Render Farm service and virtual laboratories and therefore with an enlarged project that looks at a redefinition of the spaces of the offices and their methods of use.
