Salvatore Ferragamo and the celebration of the femininity

by Giulia Goracci
Lightness and femininity, these are the key words for the Spring Summer 2018 collection signed  Salvatore Ferragamo, is a celebration of the woman designed by Fulvio Rigoni, Creative Director of the collections RTW Woman Salvatore Ferragamo. He is inspired to iconic and extraordinary women as Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Eva Peron and Carmen Miranda.

The collection is composed of a variety of silhouette, weaves and prints that take inspiration from iconic item of clothing which characterized the history of fashion as the seath dresses and flapper dresses of the Twenties and Thirties, the bell-shaped skirts of the Fifties and the flared trousers of the Seventies. This items are revisited in a modern way combining high-tech and craftsmanship. Soft colors contribute to exalt the fabrics’ lightness as light pink, light blue and white alternate with more saturated colors as purple, red and emerald green.

Pastel colors instead are for the organza outfits with a translucent effect and the suede items. The variety of the weaves characterizes the whole collection, top and crochet trousers with a mélange effect and fretwork for the suede and the hand-painted python leather that creates a contemporary and vivid transparent look.Prints enrich the whole collection, as the stripes which create a particular 3D effect or the floral print emphasizes with the overlapping of transparent fabrics for an original effect.

For the final touch there are the accessories, the shoes vary from the embroidered stretch boots with the characteristic heel ‘Fiore’ and ‘Gabbia’ to precious flat sandals and tiny bags alternate with geometric shopping bags and dark chocolate bum bag.  A collection full of femininity and individuality because as Fulvio Rigoni states: ‘‘Doesn’t exist an equal woman to the other’  and what he was wanted to express through this collection is a woman in constantly evolving.  All is contained in an imaginary Renaissance in the beautiful Piazza Affari  with the light show of Ingo Maurer who has imagined compositions of Botticelli’s flowers that appear and disappear from the façade of Palazzo Mezzanotte in contrast with light effects that recall the shape of the bottle Amo Ferragamo, the new fragrance of the brand.
