Suspended between tradition and innovation, the Autumn Winter 2020/21 collection by Donatella Raggio confirms its essentiality via a careful selection of form, mood and colour; an expression of its contemporary femininity.
The linear sartorial construction is the spirit that confirms itself as the style of the Autumn Winter 2020/21 collection designed by Donatella Raggio and perfectly displays the designer’s stylistic direction.
Taking inspiration from volume and form, both of which echo the philosophy of understatement whilst giving reference to the French style, and the personality of timeless icons such as Juliette Binoche and Marion Cotillard.
The concept is sophisticated and utilises the shoulder garment as an indispensable element in creating a ‘total look’ divided into four coloured mini-capsules that marry blue to gray, camel to gold, blue to black, and acid green, in order to challenge the rigours of winter therefore reclaiming the wearer’s right to happiness.
Through revision of the form, the jacket is “stolen” from the male wardrobe and redesigned around the elegant silhouette of the female form, allowing it to become an iconic collection piece with volumes that blend tradition and innovation with its generous proportions.
Importantly the pieces are capable of maintaining the feminine touch. The regularity of the lines conceal the finest of details in a game that subtly makes the essential almost invisible to the eye.
One gambles with the shirt, with its large and sensual sleeves, so refined that it does not require any other complement. The sweaters come to life with exclusive yarns, such as angora which gives a a hyper-feminine flavour and sophisticated cashmere, and have elegant collars and generously long sleeves. The coat is a field of experimentation with distinctive elements such as the ‘double’.

Great attention is paid to the fabrics used: double cashmere, luxurious alpaca, and English wool. Due to her character, the collection presents all the stylistic features of the world of Donatella Raggio; a Neapolitan heritage added to a sartorial flavour forms contemporary and classic femininity whilst depicting a decisively (but never brazenly) exhibited elegance, which complements the personality of those who don its pieces.
